The Isle of Man Soap Company is a family run business based in Ramsey in the Isle of Man. Owner Irene Cannan is a qualified aromatherapist and has extensive knowledge of essential oils and fragrances and their properties. What started out as a hobby to complement her work as a Holistic Therapist soon turned into a full time business and she now focuses on soap-making. All Isle of Man Soap Company products are hand made on the Island, using locally sourced ingredients where possible. With a broad
choice of products in a variety of fragrances you are sure to find something to suit you. We use centuries old traditional methods combining ingredients such as olive, palm and coconut oils, cocoa and shea butters with lye to produce a range of exquisite cold press soaps in a selection of delightful fragrances. The process takes 5 to 6 weeks to come to fruition but is well worth the wait as the bars produce a delightful creamy lather. Unique to the Isle of Man Soap Company are our “Legs of Man” soaps.
Conveniently packed in a tin, each soap has the Legs of Man, the ancient symbol of the Isle of Man, running through the middle and is available in a choice of colours and fragrances. It is ideal as a souvenir or as a small gift from your visit to the Isle of Man. The three legs of man is the famous, ancient symbol that adorns the national flag. Known as a triskelion or triskele it is thought to have been introduced to the Island in the 13th Century by Alexander III of Scotland at a time when the Island was under Scottish rule. More romantically, legend has it that the mythical sea god Manannan repelled invaders by transforming himself into three legs and rolling down the hill to put the invaders to flight For many years holidaymakers to the Island would return home clutching a stick of Gore's rock with the three legs of man running through it and this led us to create our soap with the legs of man running through the middle. Conveniently packed in a tin for ease of carriage this unique soap makes an ideal gift for your family or friends or as a treat for yourself.
